Types of Loft Ladders
It is understandable to own a loft without the actual use of a loft ladder – Loft ladders can offer many benefits over other types of ladders. FAKRO offers various models of Loft Ladders, making it possible to satisfy the needs of each individual customer.
All FAKRO folding loft ladders ensure high tightness reducing heat loss of your loft and satisfy the requirements of EN 14975:2006.
Types of FAKRO loft ladders:
A popular Loft Ladder within the range would be the LWS. However, with a slightly more generous budget to dispose of, the customer may choose the LWK model.
The LWK comes with a white hatch, handrail and protective stile ends as standard. The Highly efficient LTK is available for customers who place emphasis on the lowest possible heat transmittance. Where a ladder cannot be unfolded, the LDK Sliding Loft Ladder can be used which is similar in design to the LWK.
Should the Loft Ladder be required to perform the role of a blaze and smoke block in the event of fire, both LWF and LSF Scissors Loft Ladders are available. An additional advantage to using the LSF is the quick installation and smaller opening dimensions.

In order to gain access to Loft spaces which are to be used frequently, the LMS metal Loft Ladder with increased assistance can be employed. Model LMK is equipped with additional safety handrail and comes in a white finish door.
LST, LSZ Scissors Loft Ladders offer smaller box dimensions and shorter installation times. They are particularly recommended for places where installation of standard section Loft Ladders is impossible. What’s more, thanks to their unique mechanism, they can be folded and unfolded by the control rod provided, thus providing the ideal solution for high ceiling rooms.
For rooms with more space available, the MSU staircase can be installed. Thanks to the simple and solid structure, it proves to be a perfect solution for access to frequently used loft spaces.
Quality of FAKRO Loft Ladders
FAKRO insulated attic ladders are sealed and the lid is made from solid wood and MDF with sandwich insulation. Once installed, hardware is fully concealed and the lid is paintable to match any ceiling colour.
Accessories
Accessories, such as ladder ends and handrails, are included with many models or are available separately, making FAKRO attic ladders suitable for almost any application.
Warranty
Every FAKRO attic ladder includes a warranty. Insulated attic ladders include a two-year warranty and non-insulated attic ladders include a one-year warranty.

FAKRO attic ladders are pre-assembled and include the frame, hardware, and ladder, and are ready to install.
How to Choose an Attic Ladder
One of the first factors to consider when choosing an attic ladder is the rough opening. FAKRO attic ladders are available in various rough opening dimensions and can be retrofit to existing openings or accommodate a new build. An existing rough opening that does not fit the attic ladder’s rough opening can be framed to accommodate the attic ladder.
The second factor to consider is the ceiling height. Each attic ladder’s rough opening dimension has a ceiling height ranging from the minimum compatible ceiling height to the maximum ceiling height. The attic ladder is suitable for a ceiling height within this range by cutting the ladder, removing or adding steps, as well as making the necessary adjustments outlined in the instructions.
The third factor to consider is the insulation (R-value). All FAKRO attic ladders with an insulation value have a seal, the lid (door) is made from solid redwood pine with either a white finished lid or paintable HDF finish, and hardware is fully concealed when installed. Fire-rated models are also insulated and sealed.
Non-insulated models have a paintable particleboard lid and are suitable for areas where an insulated attic ladder is not required.
When choosing an attic ladder also consider the weight-load capacity rating. FAKRO attic ladders are rated according to ANSI standards. Look for the ANSI symbol for certified models.
